I run RobbP Media, a Meta ads agency in Los Angeles, and we run Facebook and Instagram ads for practices and ecommerce brands that want to know exactly what every dollar brought back. For Dr. Zoumalan, a Beverly Hills surgical practice, Meta ads produced $24,500 in revenue from $1,837 of spend, a 13.3x return, with 43 qualified leads. For Dead Soxy, a DTC apparel brand, we took return on ad spend from 2.23x to 4.64x without doubling the budget. Those two accounts are the two jobs we are usually hired for: building Meta ads properly from nothing, and fixing an account that is spending but not paying back.
This page covers how we run Meta ads, what we check before a dollar goes out, how we report, what it costs and the questions people ask before handing over an ad account. If you also want TikTok in the mix, our paid social agency page covers how we run Meta and TikTok together.
What a Meta ads agency actually does
Facebook and Instagram ads run from one place, Meta Ads Manager, and one ad account can show the same ad in the Instagram feed, Stories, Reels, the Facebook feed and Messenger. A Meta ads agency builds and runs that account: the tracking, the campaign structure, the creative, the daily decisions about where the budget goes, and the report that tells you whether it worked. The difference between agencies is not access to some secret setting. Everyone has the same Ads Manager. The difference is the quality of the creative, how clean the tracking is, and how disciplined the testing is.
On our side, Marta Dvorakova, our media buyer, runs the accounts day to day. She has run paid media with me for eight years, mostly for founder-led ecommerce brands. I set the strategy, and you talk to me and to Hillary Ramirez, your account manager, rather than to a rotating cast.
Tracking comes first
Meta's delivery system learns from the conversions you send it. If the pixel fires twice, fires on the wrong page or misses half the purchases, the platform optimizes toward the wrong people and every report afterwards is fiction. So before launch we check the Meta pixel and the Conversions API together, confirm the event that matters to the business, a purchase, a booked consult or a qualified lead, and watch a real one come through. For practices we track through to the booking, not the form fill, because a cheap lead that never books is not a lead.
If you want to check your own account first, our free ad account self-audit checklist starts with exactly these tracking checks.
How we build a Meta ads campaign
Creative does the targeting
Meta decides who sees an ad largely from who engages with it, so the ad itself does most of the audience work. That is why we start with a creative library rather than a long list of interests. Short-form video edited in Adobe Premiere Pro, statics and carousels in Adobe Creative Suite, and where the budget allows, UGC from real creators using the product. Every video is cut with several hooks and lengths, because the first two seconds decide most of the result and we would rather learn that from the data than guess once.
A simple structure the data can learn from
We keep accounts simple enough that the numbers mean something. One prospecting campaign that lets Meta find new buyers. One retargeting campaign for people who visited, engaged or added to cart and did not buy. A retention campaign for past customers when there is something worth saying to them. Inside that, we test creative, not a dozen thin ad sets that each get too little spend to learn. When we test audiences against each other, we switch Meta's automatic audience expansion off so the test is a fair one, and we use cost caps on the strongest products when costs start to rise.
That is exactly what fixed Dead Soxy. The account had tired creative its audience had seen too many times, and prospecting and retargeting were tangled together. We separated them cleanly, introduced video with a weekly testing cadence and moved budget daily toward the winners. ROAS went from 2.23x to 4.64x. The full numbers are in the Dead Soxy case study.
The landing page and the follow up
A strong ad sending people to a slow or confusing page is money gone. Before launch we check that the page loads fast on a phone, answers the question the ad raised and has one clear next step. For lead businesses we often send the click to a DM conversation in ManyChat instead of a form, so the lead is answered in seconds and booked while they are still interested. For Dr. Zoumalan, every lead from the Meta campaigns was nurtured through to a booked consultation, which is why the revenue figure is real money and not a cost per lead. The details are in the Dr. Zoumalan case study.
Facebook ads or Instagram ads?
Usually both, from the same campaign. Most of our clients' buyers live on Instagram, especially in Reels and Stories, and that is where most of the creative is designed to look native. Facebook placements still matter for audiences that skew older and for retargeting, and they are often cheaper. We let Meta deliver across both and then read the placement breakdown each week, rather than deciding up front and cutting off cheap results. If you want to know what to expect on budget, I wrote about how much Instagram ads cost and whether Instagram ads are worth it for different kinds of business.
Who our Meta ads work best for
Ecommerce and DTC brands are where Meta ads are cleanest, because the sale comes straight back through the pixel and return on ad spend is a real number every morning. Medical aesthetics practices, plastic surgeons, med spas and dermatology, are the second group, where the measure is booked consults against spend and the value of a patient. Practices also have stricter ad policies on Meta around health claims and before and after imagery, and we have run enough of those campaigns to know where the lines are. Beyond those, our clients include Nike and Microsoft.
Meta ads work best on top of an organic account that already looks worth following. When someone taps through from an ad to a thin profile, the click is often wasted. If your Instagram needs work first, read our Instagram growth agency page. When your buyers are already searching for what you sell, Google Ads usually belongs alongside Meta, and for brands ready to test something new, ChatGPT ads run from the same plan.
Weekly reporting
Every week you get a short report in plain words: what was spent, what came back, return on ad spend or cost per booked consult against the target we agreed, which creative is winning, what we are turning off and what we are testing next. If the number is below target, you hear it from me first along with what we are changing. If it is above target, we talk about how fast to scale. Everything runs in your own ad account, so the data, the pixel and the history are yours whether you stay with us or not.
What our Meta ads management costs
Meta ads management starts from $1,500 a month, on top of your ad spend. The ad spend goes straight to Meta from your own account, never through us. The fee covers strategy, creative production, the account build, daily optimization and the weekly report. Before anything goes live we agree a target together, based on your margins and what a customer is worth to you, and that target is what the work is judged on. I confirm the exact fee after one call, because it depends on how much creative we produce. Everything is month to month after the first ninety days.
Questions people ask
What does a Meta ads agency do?
It builds and runs your Facebook and Instagram ad account: tracking, campaign structure, creative, daily budget decisions and reporting. We judge it on one number agreed before launch, usually return on ad spend for ecommerce or cost per booked consult for a practice.
How much does a Meta ads agency cost?
Our Meta ads management starts from $1,500 a month on top of ad spend, and the ad spend is paid to Meta directly from your own account. I confirm the exact fee after one call, depending on how much creative is needed.
What results have you had with Meta ads?
Dr. Zoumalan, a Beverly Hills surgical practice, made $24,500 in revenue from $1,837 of Meta spend, a 13.3x return, with 43 qualified leads. Dead Soxy, an apparel brand, went from 2.23x to 4.64x return on ad spend after we rebuilt the audience structure and the creative.
Do I keep ownership of my Meta ad account?
Yes. Everything runs in your own Meta Business account, so the pixel, the data and the campaign history stay yours whether you work with us or not.
How long do Meta ads take to work?
The first two to three weeks are learning, while Meta finds who responds and we see which creative wins. By week four we usually know whether the account is on track, and you see the numbers in the weekly report from the first week of spend.
Do you run Facebook ads and Instagram ads separately?
Usually not. They run from the same campaigns in Meta Ads Manager, and we read the placement results every week to see where the return is coming from, then adjust the creative and budget to match.
