I run Robbp Media, a paid social agency in Los Angeles, and I judge our ads work on one number, return on ad spend. A Beverly Hills medical client returned 1,233% ROAS on paid social we built and managed from the creative up. Dead Soxy, a DTC apparel brand, moved from 2.23x to 4.64x ROAS after we rebuilt the creative and the audience structure at the same time. Those are the two results I lead with because they show the two situations we are usually hired for: a business that has never run ads properly and needs the whole system built, and a business that is already spending and needs the return fixed.
If you are searching for a Meta ads agency, an Instagram ads agency or a TikTok ads agency because your current spend is a line item you cannot explain, this page covers how we build campaigns, how we report, what it costs and the questions people ask before they hand over an ad account. Paid is one lane of what we do as a social media marketing agency in Los Angeles, and it is the lane where the numbers are least arguable.
What we run
Meta ads, meaning Facebook and Instagram through the same ad account, are the core. Most of our clients' buyers are on Instagram, and Facebook ads management still matters for the audiences that skew older or for retargeting across both placements. TikTok ads are the second platform, and they only make sense when the creative is built for TikTok rather than repurposed from a polished brand video. We run them for product brands with a visual hook and for anyone whose buyer is under thirty five. We do not run Google search ads. Social is what we know and we would rather be excellent at it than adequate at everything.
How we build a campaign
Creative first
Creative is the targeting now. Meta and TikTok decide who sees an ad largely by who engages with it, so the ad itself does most of the audience work. That is why we start with creative and not with a spreadsheet of interests. We build a library before launch: short form video edited in Adobe Premiere Pro, statics and carousels in Adobe Creative Suite, and where the budget allows, UGC from real creators using the product. The JAM Paper UGC campaign that reached 180,000 views was built this way and that footage is exactly the kind that performs in a feed. I have written about when UGC beats polished ads and when it does not. Every piece is cut in several hooks and several lengths so we can learn fast what the audience responds to rather than guessing once.
The Dead Soxy rebuild is the clearest example. The account was spending with tired creative that the audience had seen too many times, and the targeting was layered so tightly that the platform could not find new buyers. We replaced the creative with a fresh library, opened the audiences up, and ROAS went from 2.23x to 4.64x. Neither fix would have done it on its own.
Audience structure
We keep the account simple enough that the data means something. A prospecting campaign that lets the platform find new buyers with broad or lightly guided audiences. A retargeting campaign for people who engaged, visited or added to cart and did not buy. A retention campaign for existing customers when there is something to say to them. Within those, we test creative rather than slicing audiences into a dozen ad sets that each get too little spend to learn. For medical practices in Beverly Hills and Orange County the geography is tight and the message has to be patient safe and compliant, and we have run enough of those campaigns to know where the lines are.
Landing pages and tracking
An ad that performs and a landing page that leaks is money gone. Before launch we check where the ad sends people, whether that page loads fast on a phone, whether it answers the question the ad raised, and whether the pixel, the conversions API and the booking or checkout events are firing correctly. If the page needs rebuilding we say so up front. For lead based businesses we often pair the campaign with ManyChat so a click can go to a DM conversation that qualifies and books, which for some practices converts better than a form.
Weekly ROAS reporting
Every week you get a report that reads like a text from a friend rather than a dashboard dump. Spend, revenue or leads, ROAS against the target we agreed, what creative is winning, what we are turning off, and what we are testing next. If the number is below target you hear it from me first with what we are doing about it. If it is above, we talk about whether to scale and how fast. You talk to me, not an account manager. I have a team for design, editing and creator sourcing, but strategy, the ad account and the relationship stay with me.
Who this works for
DTC and ecommerce brands are where paid social is cleanest, because revenue comes straight back through the pixel and ROAS is a real number every morning. Posh Peanut scaled to $41M in revenue with our social, creator and paid work underneath it, and Dead Soxy is the rebuild story. Medical aesthetics is the second group, where the 1,233% ROAS came from, and where the math is consults booked against spend and the lifetime value of a patient. Pet and kids brands like Bil-Jac lean on UGC in the ads because those buyers trust other owners and other parents more than they trust a brand. Beyond those, the broader track record includes Nike, Microsoft, Cobalt Stages, Calculated Industries and Project Ropa.
Paid works best on top of an organic account that already has trust built. If your Instagram is thin, read the Instagram growth agency page as well. Most of our clients run both, and the ones that do get cheaper clicks because people who land on the profile see an account worth following.
What it costs
Paid social here is a management fee on top of your ad spend. The ad spend goes to Meta or TikTok directly from your own ad account, which you own and keep access to. The management fee covers strategy, creative production, account build, daily optimisation and the weekly report. Before anything goes live we agree a ROAS target together, based on your margins and what a customer is worth to you, and that target is what the work is judged against. I quote the fee after one call because it depends on how much creative we are producing and how many platforms we are running. Everything is month to month after the first ninety days.
Questions people ask
Are Instagram ads worth it?
Yes when the creative is strong, the landing page converts and the math works on your margins. A Beverly Hills medical client returned 1,233% ROAS and Dead Soxy reached 4.64x. They are not worth it when the offer is weak or the page leaks, which is why we check both before spending a dollar.
How much do Instagram ads cost?
It depends on your audience, your creative and how competitive your category is, so I will not quote a cost per click or a budget here. What we do is agree a ROAS target first, based on your margins, then set a starting budget that is enough to learn from and scale only when the target is being hit.
What is a good ROAS?
It depends entirely on your margin. A brand with high margins can be very profitable at 2x and a thin margin brand might need 5x. That is why we set the target with you before launch rather than chasing a number that sounds good. Dead Soxy's 4.64x was the right target for that business.
Do you run TikTok ads too?
Yes, for brands with a visual product and a younger buyer, and only with creative made for TikTok rather than repurposed brand video. Meta is where most clients start because the buyers and the tracking are more mature, and we add TikTok when the creative library and budget can support a second platform.
How long does it take to see results from paid social?
Faster than anything else we do. The first two to three weeks are learning, where the platform finds who responds and we see which creative wins. By week four we usually know whether the account is on track, and you see ROAS in the weekly report from the first week of spend.
